Supports for older people during COVID-19
Some older people can rely on family, friends and neighbors during this difficult period, but many will need additional supports. It may not appear that someone in your community might need some help and with the help of the An Garda Siochana and An Post, we are hopeful that anyone that needs assistance will be identified as soon as possible.

COVID-19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment
The COVID-19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment is a payment of €350 per week. It is available to all employees and the self-employed who have lost their job due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic. For full details, please click here.
Illness Benefit for COVID-19 absences
When a worker is told to self-isolate by a doctor or the HSE or has been diagnosed with COVID-19 (Coronavirus) by a doctor, they can apply for an enhanced Illness Benefit payment of €350 per week. To be eligible for this payment a person must be confined to their home or a medical facility. Please click here for full information.
Back to School Allowance
Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance is due to paid in July. You may qualify if you are getting a social welfare payment (including Working Family Payment, Back to Work Family Dividend and Covid-19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment)
