Moynihan encourages submissions to Committee on Disability Matters
|Michael Moynihan, Fianna Fáil TD for Cork North West and chairman of the The Joint Committee on Disability Matters is encouraging written submissions from interested groups or individuals to hear about the lived experience of people with disabilities on the issues that affect them and their families and/or carers. Moynihan commented “The more insights of real experience the committee has, the better the future work of the committee will be. |
The aim of this Committee is to develop policy and legislation that will benefit in a meaningful way, the lives and experiences of people with disabilities, their families and/or their carers. I am urging all of those with lived experience to please make a submission. The only way we can truly cater for the needs of people with disabilities is to involve them and learn from their experience.
Michael Moynihan TD said that “The submissions received will inform the Committees Terms of Reference so that the Committee can work to not only meet the needs of people with disabilities in Ireland, but deliver on the systematic change that the UNCRPD demands and ensure that this Convention becomes a reality in the daily lives of people with disabilities.
“I am committed to ensuring that we achieve a systematic change, that will not only ensure that people with disabilities be integrated effectively into society, but that society can also continue to integrate into the lives of people with disabilities” concluded Deputy Moynihan.
It’s very important that people send in a submission to inform the terms of reference for the report on the lived experience of people with #disabilities. If you would like to discuss your submission please do not hesitate to contact my office.
Submissions should be emailed to [email protected] by 3pm on Monday, 9 November 2020.
