Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Transport, Tourism and Sport Robert Troy TD has demanded action from Minister Shane Ross to deal with poor road conditions on local, regional and national routes around the country.
Deputy Troy said, “TD’s offices are inundated with complaints from road users about the current condition of many local and national routes. The heavy rain and frequent frost has taken its toll on roads. If this had occurred after a storm then a dedicated fund would have been established to deal with it.
“The National Oversight and Audit Commission has published a report which states that two thirds of roads are in a state of disrepair and require significant remedial work. Minister Ross still hasn’t responded to this report or set out how he will overcome the problem. He needs to get his act together and start doing his job,” concluded Deputy Troy.
