As a member of the Transport Commitee I was delighted to arrange with my colleague Senator John O’Mahony for this group to present to committee today. This project is a vital piece of infrastructure for development of the north west region and something we will continue to push for.

I was delighted to be part of the relaunch of Mullingar town’s dedicated website which was re-launched at an event in the Market House in Mullingar recently. The new website will act as a  focal point for anyone visiting the town, as well as businesses or companies who are considering locating to the town .

Mullingar is a wonderful town, with a very strong community spirit, a vibrant music and arts scene, excellent shopping and beautiful lakes. The website was developed to showcase all that is great about Mullingar and to market the town and attract inward investment.

Mullingar.ie was set up by a working group of local business people . To get the very best from this positive initiative, we all need to get behind it and support it. We have to work together to support the work that is going on to support the businesses of the town. Without that support, it simply won’t work.

Well done to the Mullingar Town Team, Mullingar Chamber and the business community of the town.

Lets give our support to the new look, newly relaunched brand , ‘Mullingar.ie’ and show the world how good our town is.

Chaotic start to grant applications does not bode well for SUSI – Troy

Fianna Fail TD Robert Troy has expressed concern over the latest debacle involving SUSI applications ahead of the new academic year. Reacting to news that SUSI has been forced to extend its application deadline due to ‘technical difficulties’, Deputy Troy said the chaotic start for this year’s applications does not bode well. “I very much hope this is just a temporary glitch and not a sign of more chaos to come,” said Deputy Troy. “The SUSI system was a complete disaster last year, causing serious problems for thousands of students across the country....

Troy condemns fiasco over audiology course at Athlone IT

01 August 2013 The news that a third level course at Athlone Institute of Technology is being discontinued because of a lack of accreditation is a complete fiasco, according to Local Fianna Fáil TD Robert Troy. Deputy Troy commented, “It beggars belief that this four-year programme was allowed to start last year without any clear prospects with regard to clinical placements or employment opportunities for students. “The class was informed this week by e-mail that the course curriculum would be dramatically changed so it would no longer represent the “original” qualification, as publicised by CAO....
