Longford Westmeath Fianna Fáil TD, Robert Troy, has commended the Gardaí in Westmeath for their efforts in controlling and intercepting crime in the locality.
Central Statistic Office (CSO) figures which were released last week reveal that Westmeath’s crime rate is at a steady decrease.
Deputy Troy commented: “This is a notable achievement and a tribute to the Gardaí’s determination and commitment to their vocation especially considering the circumstances they currently find themselves in.

Taking medical card from 20,000 elderly people a retrograde step – Troy
Fianna Fáil TD for Longford Westmeath, Robert Troy, has criticised moves by the Government to cut medical cards for as many as 20,000 people throughout the country.
Legislation that passed through the Dáil last week has provided for 20,000 people to lose their medical card in exchange for a free GP visit card.
