Cllr. Aidan Davitt

I have found it a great privilege to represent the people of Mullingar and North Westmeath over the last 5 years and if re-elected I will endeavour to my best to represent you again to the best of my ability from my full time office in Mullingar and with the help of local TD Robert Troy.

I’m a qualified auctioneer and I am an active member of the Mullingar Business Community employing 9 people and I am heavily involved in the promotion of local Gaelic games particularly for the youth in our society.

  • Chairman of St Lomans GAA, Mullingar
  • A member of the Niall Mellon Township Trust and I participated in the building of houses in South Africa on two occasions raising over €10,000

  • Educated locally in Loughegar and St Finian’s College Mullingar

1: North Westmeath and Mullingar need a strong and visible Garda presence and the support to take stronger action against anti social behaviour and in particular, burglaries.

2: I have taken a strong stand against unjust water charges and I am adamant that there is a fairer way than the establishment of another quango that’s sole purpose is to take our assets Lough Owel/Ennell and Lene.

3:I have been instrumental in the setting up of a council committee to review one-off house planning permissions. I will ensure that a more practical resolution will be found to accommodate locals.

4:The Lake County is known for its beauty and I have taken a strong position to protect local tourism from the blight of industrial wind turbines and unnecessary pylons.

5: Prioritising the development of youth facilities in Mullingar including further funding for youth café and Mullingar skate park.
