Aengus O’Rourke

Aengus O’Rourke is a highly experienced member of the Athlone business community.  He has a deep commitment to the political and business life of the town which he has been honoured to serve following his election to Athlone Town Council in 2009.

Growing up in Athlone, Aengus received all his education locally, attending both Marist Junior and Primary Schools.  Following his graduation from Athlone IT in 1990 he worked in Dublin and travelled overseas to gain business experience.  In 2005 he returned to Athlone with his wife Lisa to establish a  business on the Westside of Athlone – SNAP Printing on Pearse Street.

Aengus is keenly aware of the needs and priorities of the local community. As a young married man, he and his wife Lisa have four young children, Aengus has a hands on understanding of the many challenges facing parents and young families in the difficult circumstances so many people find themselves at present. First elected to the Town Council in 2009, Aengus has worked tirelessly to serve and support the people of Athlone through representation and active engagement.

Aengus may be a newcomer to politics but has already continued in the family tradiition of delivering for this area.  His family have served with great distinction both locally and nationaly for many years.

Aengus is keenly interested in sport and when time allows he plays soccer and golf, he has also competed in  the TriAthlone event on a number of occasions.

If elected to Westmeath County Council in the forthcoming local elections, Aengus will work tirelessly to represent the people of Athlone and surrounding areas to ensure the presence of a strong and effective voice to represent the real interests of the people of south Westmeath.
